In some US cities and states, asking for a job seeker’s last-drawn salary is against the law.
However, in many other countries including Singapore, there are no such laws.
The practice of asking for a candidate’s salary history in itself is not wrong, but how prospective employers choose to use the information to determine an offer needs to be examined further.
